The Lawton Standard Co. is seeking an EHS & HR Support Generalist to join our Temperform team in Novi, MI.
This is a hands on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) position that helps support Human Resources tasks at our manufacturing facility. You’ll work closely with plant leadership and corporate partners to promote a safe, compliant, and engaged workplace. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing compliance, employee relations, and operational needs in a plant environment
This position will also support EHS responsibilities at our Minster, OH facility, with travel to that location approximately 4 days per month.
What You’ll Do: Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS):
Collect, track, and maintain environmental and sustainability data (waste, air, water, chemicals, etc.)
Coordinate and facilitate monthly safety meetings
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic employment law
Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information professionally
Develop and deliver safety training (OSHA topics, PPE, hazard communication, LOTO, emergency response)
Conduct safety inspections and support hazard identification and corrective actions
Lead or assist with incident and near-miss investigations
Prepare OSHA logs, workers’ compensation documentation, and required reports
Support regulatory compliance, audits, and emergency preparedness
Maintain EHS records, permits, and training documentation
Human Resources (HR):
Coordinate recruiting and hiring activities, including job postings and interviews
Coordinate HR and safety compliance-related training
Manage onboarding, orientation, and employment documentation
Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters
Assist with performance management and disciplinary documentation
Coordinate payroll inputs, timekeeping, and employee data changes
Maintain personnel files and HR records
Support benefits administration and employee questions
Assist with employment law compliance and required postings
Cross-Functional Responsibilities:
Partner with plant leadership to promote a strong safety culture
Communicate effectively with employees at all levels
Prepare reports and metrics related to EHS and HR activities
Support continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For-Required Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Occupational Safety, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5 years of EHS, with HR support experience (manufacturing preferred)
Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Workers’ compensation claims experience
Environmental or sustainability data reporting experience
Work Environment
Combination of office and manufacturing floor
Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, uneven surfaces, and moving equipment
Use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators as needed.
Salary:$70,000 – $80,000 annually, based on experience
