The Pattern Warehouse Specialist/Inventory Control is responsible for the leadership and daily operations of the Pattern Warehouse on 1st Shift, with a strong focus on inventory accuracy, material flow, and shipping/receiving coordination. This position ensures patterns are received, stored, staged, and delivered to production safely, efficiently, and on time. You will oversee warehouse organization, maintain accurate inventory levels, and support pattern shop operations to keep production running smoothly.
Essential Functions
Lead and supervise all 1st shift warehouse activities, including receiving, put-away, storage, staging, material movement, and shipping.
Ensure accurate, organized inventory through cycle counts, audits, and proper documentation.
Maintain a clean and efficient warehouse layout with clearly labeled and accessible materials.
Coordinate material availability with Production, Purchasing, Pattern Shop, and Quality.
Oversee shipping and receiving functions, verifying shipments, Bills of Lading, and documentation.
Enforce safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
Train and develop warehouse staff in safety, efficiency, and proper handling procedures.
Drive continuous improvement to reduce errors, waste, and downtime.
Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
Secondary Pattern Shop Responsibilities
Ensure patterns and prototypes meet quality and dimensional requirements.
Coordinate tooling readiness, repairs, and preventive maintenance needs.
Oversee shop tools, equipment, supply inventory, and shop organization.
Maintain communication between the pattern shop, warehouse, and production.
Support scheduling, workload planning, and daily prioritization.
Evaluate team performance, provide feedback, and address personnel issues.
Qualifications & Competencies Required:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
3+ years of warehouse or inventory management experience
Experience leading or supervising warehouse/production teams
Strong understanding of material flow, inventory control, and warehouse best practices
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Drivers license
Blue print reading
Fork lift
Using hand tools
Preferred:
Technical/trade education
Background in carpentry, pattern making, tooling, or related fields
Experience with ERP or warehouse management software
Salary: $30–$35/hour, based on experience
Computer Skills
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with ERP or inventory management systems preferred
