Machine Shop Supervisor
Full Time Salary
Wage Range: $85,000-$90,000 per year
Northern Iron is looking for a talented and experienced Machine Shop Supervisor with expertise in CNC machining operations, programming, and inspection. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating and programming CNC machines, including Okuma Lathes, Mori Seki Horizontal Mills, and proficiency in PC-DMIS, CMM programming for inspection purposes, and Romer Arm. The Machine Shop Supervisor will lead a team of machinists, oversee production activities, ensure quality standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supervise and coordinate CNC machining operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
· Lead and mentor a team of machinists, providing guidance, training, and support to optimize performance and productivity.
· Oversee programing and set up CNC machines using G-Code, ensuring accurate and efficient production of parts and components.
· Perform inspections using CMM equipment, and Romer Arm interpreting inspection data and ensuring compliance with specifications.
· Troubleshoot machine issues and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize uptime.
· Implement and enforce safety procedures to create a safe working environment for all employees.
· Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues, improve processes, and implement best practices.
· Maintain accurate records of production activities, including Oversee programing, setup, and inspection data.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in CNC machining operations, Oversee programing, and inspection.
· Proficiency in PC-DMIS, CMM programing, and Romer Arm.
· Experience with Okuma Lathes and Mori Seki Horizontal Mills is highly desirable.
· Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a machining environment.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
